Hi everyone! Well after seeing Mandy's blog of her gorgeous family I got inspired to create my own blog space as it is a much easier way to keep everyone informed of what is going on over here in the far east without shoving email after email in your faces.
As my first blog I would just like to state that the Japanese people take holidays and gift giving to a whole other level! Tomorrow is Valentine's Day (well technically its 1:33am now, so i guess that means its today...Happy Valentine's Day!) which means that all the girl's in Japan go out and get all their baking supplies to make chocolates, cookies, and cakes for their boyfriends. They will then proceed to wrap them in some amazingly, complicated and creative way making it very "kawaii" (cute) for their deserving, wonderful, appreciative boyfriends! In other words Valentine's Day in Japan is a day for the women to spoil the men with sweets. The men will hopefully return this favor one month later on March 14th which is White Day, another Valentine's Day basically, except this time it is for the men to reciprocate with a gift costing twice as much as the one they received (or so I am told by my teachers). But if only you could see how busy the stores have been over the past week! Filled with various baking goods, wrapping supplies, and tons of girls cramming around each other yelling "KAWAII!!!". It's a madhouse I tell you! The good part of this holiday is that in the major department stores they have their "chocolate fairs" going on allowing you to sample all the different sweets you can buy! Gosh, I just love Japan!
